Outreach Specialist-College Store

Qualifications:

JOB SUMMARY:    

Responsible for outreach on behalf of the college store as it pertains to high schools, centers, high school equivalency program, athletics, vendors, and other internal departments under the supervision of the College Store manager.

DUTIES:                   

Coordinate course materials for College Early Start program, including ordering decisions, billings, providing documentation, organizing deliveries and collection of books and communicating with high school students, counselors, and the Iowa Western Director of High School Outreach.

Facilitate delivery of course materials to and from Clarinda, Harlan, Atlantic, and Shenandoah locations, keeping a constant line of communication open between locations.

Manage HiSET voucher process, working with Accounts Receivable to release test vouchers to high school equivalency programs and coordinators upon request.

Work with athletics department on course material collection from scholarship rental program, collecting data on materials rented, quantity to return, and organization of collection schedule. This includes auditing outstanding items and charges.                                              

Supervise student workers in the college store in evenings.

Balance cash drawers daily as part of end of day reconciliation processes, complete closing procedures, and ready store for the next business day.

Oversee food and beverage stock in the College Store, working with vendors to create an effective sales plan based on trends in the college market, healthy choices for students, and promotional displays.

Assist the General Merchandise Specialist with purchasing, maintaining stock and creating promotions for school supplies and Reiver gear.

Help maintain the security, safety, and cleanliness of the department.

Ensure a positive work environment and open communication.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

  1. High school diploma or GED required.
  2. Associates degree preferred.
  3. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record required.

EXPERIENCE

  1. Knowledge/proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
  2. Retail, C-Store, marketing, and customer service experience preferred.
  3. Supervisory experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Effective communication skills.
  2. Ability to handle confidential matters and flexibility to multitask.
  3. Ability to communicate and work effectively without supervision.
  4. Ability to lift 40 pounds.

HOURS

Monday – Thursday 9:45 am – 6:15 pm; Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Extended hours during the start of each semester; summer hours vary

SALARY: $15/hr
