What is the "SEVIS" Fee?

Most international students/scholars must pay a $100 fee to the U.S. government for the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).  

After you receive Iowa Western’s Form I-20 or DS-2019, you will have the information you need to pay the SEVIS fee with Form I-901.

You must pay the SEVIS fee and have a receipt/coupon (Form I-797) before you apply for your student visa or change of status.

How Do You Pay the SEVIS Fee?
  1. Electronically complete Form I-901 at www.fmjfee.com and pay the fee with a major credit card.

  2. OR -

  3. By mail or courier service send completed Form I-901 along with a check or money order in U.S. dollars from a bank in the United States. Download the form at http://www.ice.gov/graphics/sevis/pdf/I-901.pdf

    Make out checks and money orders to:

    I-901 STUDENT/EXCHANGE VISTOR PROCESSING FEE.”
