Continuing Education Classes


Classes are offered in Council Bluffs, Atlantic, Clarinda, Harlan and Shenandoah. This course prepares you to give basic nursing care in a long term care setting, hospital or assisted living and is a pre-requisite for the IWCC nursing program. Visit CNA webpage for class schedule. Driving Unimpaired (DUI)

April 5, 6 (Friday 6-10 pm and Saturday 8-5 pm)
IWCC Cass County Center, Atlantic
Cost $180

This course is required for anyone convicted of driving under the influence, and it is authorized by the State of Iowa. Attendance all days is required. Iowa Code requires that students must be 18 years of age to take this class. Iowa Western Continuing Education offers classes monthly in Council Bluffs. Emergency Services

Iowa Western Community College offers Emergency Services career training in a hybrid format! The course lecture, discussions, quizzes and exams are done online. The class will meet in person for skills labs in Council Bluffs. For more information, email ce@iwcc.edu or call 712.325.3255.

Home Inspection - Online

This online program covers the principal components of home inspection procedures and processes. Cosmetology CE Hours - Classroom

Cosmetology Home Study - Online

The Iowa Board of Cosmetology requires two hours of law. If you have hours from another source that did not include law, or if you are out of sequence for the two hours that you need, we are providing an independent home-study course consisting of a booklet and test, which we will send you. You will have three weeks to study the booklet and send the completed test back to us for grading. Upon passing, you will be sent a certificate awarding two hours of Law and Rules. This workshop will inform mandatory reporters of suspected dependent adult/child abuse and/or neglect of their role and responsibilities. It fulfills the training requirement for mandatory reporters within six months of their hire date or self-employment in a specific occupation. Approved for 3.0 continuing education contact hours for nurses, Iowa Board of Nursing Provider #6. Fee $59  Register for this Class
